Nov 9, 2010. The Diary of a Wimpy kids series WILL get kids reading. If you have a reluctant reader, just pick up the first book in the series. Both my boys and all of their friends loved these books and passed them around. Our family enjoys reading together and we all loved these books. The author Jeff Kinney originally began Diary of a Wimpy Kid for adults. The books are so funny, much better than the movie. For other great books, check out our reviews of kids books here.
