DAY 14, Shoulder Surgery Diary
On Tuesday, I went to the shoulder doctor for my after surgery checkup. He removed the stitches and told me I could not move my shoulder at all for two more weeks. This should not be a problem because when I move it by accident it hurts like hell. I was a little concerned because there were a couple of times when I accidentally moved it and got very sharp pains. The doctor didn’t seem too worried about that.
Today I found out that the pre-surgery MRI showed a few Injuries, but it did not pick up everything that needed repaired. When the doctor ‘got in there’ he found quite a few other problems. There was a type 2 slap tear, a rotator cuff tear, a bicep tendon tear, bursitis, and a few other things. I found it interesting that when you have a bicep tear they totally disconnect the bicep from the shoulder, and drill a hole into the bone and reattach the biceps. They also removed bone spurs.
I will start physical therapy after my third week. So, I have that to look forward to.
I am still very sore. The doctor preferred that I wear immobilization sling that the hospital gave me. I have been wearing it since my appointment on Tuesday.
