Today had my second physical therapy. It wasn’t too bad. When I arrived, the therapist put a heating pad on my shoulder for about ten minutes to “loosen things up a bit”. She then had me do stretching exercises on a pulley. After that she just moved my arm around a bit. I wasn’t given any new exercises to do at home.
After shoulder surgery, sudden movements cause a lot of pain. I’m not supposed be moving my right arm yet. Today a bug surprised me and I jerked my arm rather suddenly. It really hurt. I have ice on it right now. I am thinking about using the sling for a while longer now.
I wrote this poem just for fun:
Shoulder Surgery Curses, a Poem
Holy hell, my shoulder!
It hurts quite a lot.
I hope there’s no tools,
That the surgeon forgot.
There’s this sharp pain,
Down my arm it does travel.
Why did my surgeon-
Insert that damn gravel?
When sometimes I move it,
I feel quite unfit.
While I use my left hand,
I’m clumsy as shit.
I just got the bill,
And I’m paying for pain.
What was I thinking?
Have I gone insane?
If you’re having it done,
Here’s some info for you.
Healing takes time,
So you’ll have to make do.
Do you like doing stuff?
Well, that’s in the past.
So put on that sling,
And sit on your ass.
The physical therapist,
Moved my shoulder a lot.
He said it would help,
More often than not.
A month down the road,
The arm’s still in a sling.
There’s stuff I can’t do,
Like work a shoe string.
Cling to the thought,
Recover you will.
I’m sure it will happen,
Now go take a pill.
