When using the negative AI art prompts, here are some tips to remember:
- The order matters. Put what is most important in the front of the negative prompt. You’ll get different results when moving the commands/items in prompts around.
- If you want the image centered, put uncentered in the negative prompt. If you want more artistic balance in your result, add unbalanced to your negative prompt.
- Other things I use in my negative prompts: bad art, ugly, blur, unclear, uncentered, unbalanced, grainy, low-details, border, frame.
- Cut-off image results. If my image keeps getting cut off, I use cut-off, off screen, out of picture and put it right at the front of the prompt. If you have a person in your art and their head keeps getting cut off, try using headless in your prompt. Another way to fix it is to describe their hair or a hat, but AI seems to have some trouble with hats.
- Punctuation in both positive and negative prompts matter. You get better results if you seperate parts of your prompt.
- Prompt experiment/examples: Original Negative Prompt No Punctuation | Added Punctuation to Negative Prompt | Rearranged the Negative Prompt | Added Artist name in Negative Prompt
- If you are using “In the style of artist name here” in the prompt, the negative prompt can suppress the style. Play around with it and make sure none of the aspects you desire are in the negative prompt. For example, if I want my art to look like Claude Monet I wouldn’t put unclear in my negative prompt because that is a part of his style.
- If there is something you want kept out of your picture, put it in your negative prompt. For example, in this image, flowers kept appearing, so I put flowers in the negative prompt. And in this image, it kept having a girl in it, so I used girl in my negative prompt. Occasionally my negative prompt contain the words humans, people, women, men, females, males, flowers.
- You can put an artist name in the negative prompt. I do that sometimes just to see what it does to the image and I’ve had some cool results. Here is an example, and here is another example.
